Biology department admission policy changes
The Biology department has a new admission policy for its majors and minors effective 2020-2021 academic year. The changes addressed two fundamental goals that lie at the heart of the mission of the department and the College of Science and Engineering: increasing inclusivity and maintaining access to high quality education. The policy will enable the department to manage enrollment in a manner that is more sustainable, allows continued work to improve equity and inclusion, and flexible enough to enable quick responses to shifts in enrollment at Western and in the interests of Western students.

Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Engineering and Design department has renamed its electrical engineering program of study and course prefix effective 2020-2021 academic year. The program name is titled Electrical and Computer Engineering, BS (was Electrical Engineering, BS) while the course prefix changes from EE (Electrical Engineering) to EECE (Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering). The department’s rationale for the name changes is reflective of the content currently taught in the curriculum, a majority of other programs in the U.S. undergoing a similar name change, and for future accreditation.
