MATH 373 - Teaching P-3 Mathematics III


Foundations of mathematics education for pre-kindergarten to grade three, including: developing early algebraic reasoning, data gathering and interpretation, conceptual development of measurement and early geometry as well as spatial reasoning. Curriculum analysis, questioning tactics and assessment techniques are presented and investigated. This emphasizes problem solving, use of models, and appropriate technology. This is the third of a sequence of courses required to ensure a comprehensive and necessary background for teaching pre-kindergarten to grade three. Not acceptable for any departmental major except BA/Ed, Elementary.

Prerequisites & Notes: A grade of C or better in MATH 371 or MATH 381 and MATH 372.
