SOCP 364 - Health Inequalities This course focuses on the social determinants of heath. The course will address how health disparities are defined and measured with a focus on how social inequalities impact who gets sick and who gets care. This course will take a global comparative approach to not just look at health disparities and inequalities in the US, but around the world. Students will be introduced to how health policy is created and reformed and what this looks like around the world. The sociology of health and illness is an extensive area of study. Because of this, the readings incorporate foundational texts and contemporary readings that look at our understanding of health and illness before and after the presence of COVID-19.
