SOCP 356 - Race, Power, and Privilege


Through a sociological lens, students will delve into the historical foundations and contemporary manifestations of racial hierarchies, examining how they intersect with issues of power and privilege across various spheres of life including education, employment, healthcare, housing, and the criminal justice system. The course places a strong emphasis on the role of social institutions and policies in perpetuating or challenging racial disparities and encourages students to consider the implications of social justice initiatives and policy reforms.
