SOCP 350 - Patterns of Domestic Violence and Abuse This course examines forms of family violence such as child abuse and neglect, spousal and partner abuse, and elder abuse. The course will examine the history of legalized violence and abuse within families and social changes to better intervene and protect people experiencing violence and abuse. Course topics include theories of abuse, outcomes of abuse, and social and cultural forces that shape people’s experiences of violence and abuse. A major part of this course will look at the social and legal implications, interventions, and preventions.
