C/AM 355 - Canadian-American Media Systems: News, Culture, and Diplomacy This course examines how news institutions, governments, and other media actors in the region — Indigenous nations, non-governmental organizations, and multinational corporations — produce their own media that renders cross-border regions such as Cascadia, the Great Lakes, and the Arctic as politically and culturally dynamic geographies. The course provides students with an understanding of cross-border media flows and their impact on the relationship between Canada and the United States. Students in this class will acquire an introduction to Canadian news media in the context of their relationship to U.S. counterparts — and vice-versa. Also offered as JOUR 355.
Prerequisites & Notes: JOUR 190 or ENG 101 or C/AM 200. Credits: 4 Grade Mode: Letter
