NURS 545 - Nursing Leadership Practice Experience

In this Nursing Leadership Practice Experience, students synthesize existing knowledge and skills to enhance the quality of nursing and healthcare delivery. This course requires 30 hours of practice experience with a nurse leader preceptor. Throughout the practice experience, students actively participate with a nurse leader preceptor in leadership and change projects, engage in research activities, or access client or population data for quality assurance and improvement projects. Additionally, students assess the leadership styles of key leaders within the organization, consider their influence on the organization’s culture and effectiveness, and evaluate the organization’s governance structure, policies, and decision-making processes and how they align with governance theories. Students communicate their analyses through informative presentations to nursing leader preceptors, demonstrating their ability to synthesize and apply knowledge to real-world healthcare leadership.
