NURS 521 - Systems of Power in Healthcare Practice Experience

This course is the second of three required foundations Practice Experience courses (NURS 511, 521, and 531) to ground students in the curriculum’s conceptual model of the determinants of health and population health equity. In this course, students apply NURS 520 principles and are required to complete 30 hours of practice experience with a community preceptor. The targeted goal of this practice experience is to explore implementation science leadership and investigate population interventions (WAC 246-840-531, 2(a)) by identifying the systems of power (e.g., socio-political, regulatory) that impact the delivery of health or educational services in an organization and the nurse leader and educator roles. The three foundations Practice Experience courses enable students to participate in an aspect of an organizational or population quality assurance project.

Prerequisites & Notes: NURS 510 and NURS 511; co-requisite: NURS 520.
