UEPP 501 - Histories and Practices of Planning and Environmental Sustainability The course explores root causes of planning and sustainability conflicts – political, cultural, economic, and spatial. Solution-oriented, we focus on key areas where physical planning, programs, and policies can make a difference to the future of cities and regions. How can we help address these formidable challenges and leave a legacy of environmental quality for future generations? A main feature of the course consists of linking critical reflections of dominant discourses with progressive frameworks for transformative, just, and equitable solutions. The course focuses on big ideas, key debates, and broad types of policies and tools.
