PHIL 363 - History of Philosophy: Classical Chinese Philosophy This course is an introduction to the philosophical texts and topics of the “classical” period of Chinese philosophy, from the time of Kongzi (Confucius) through the unification of China in the 3rd century BCE, including Confucian, Mohist, Daoist, and Legalist thinkers. Topics may include, among others: the role of ritual in human life, whether human nature is good or bad, how one becomes a moral person, and the proper role and function of government.
