A/HI 430 - European Sacred Art and Theological Aesthetics

This seminar focuses on Western sacred artworks and theological aesthetic theories. Topics may include, amongst others: devotional images, popular images, the educational role of images in liturgy, pilgrimage churches, reliquiaries, the performativity of icons, or the effects of the Protestand reformation and subsequent Catholic reformation.

Prerequisites & Notes: Any A/HI or equivalent 300-level course.
