MUS 345 - Foundations in Musicology


This course will introduce students to the study of music history and culture from local, national, and global perspectives. Three weeks will be dedicated, each, to the studies of Western European art music, global musicultures, and popular musics. The first partial week of the term will serve as an introduction to musicology and the final week will be dedicated to comprehensive review and preparation for the next series course. As this is a writing-intensive course, students will also learn how to write about music through scaffolded lessons and assessments in each unit.

Prerequisites & Notes: MUS 126; music major.
