ETHN 316 - Contemporary African American Issues This variable topics course will expose students to current issues in African American Studies, such as religion, civil rights, rising incarceration rates, and labor stagnation. Through readings, lectures, films, and organized debates, the class will explore the impact of neo-conservatism, the Nation of Islam and Louis Farrakhan, the Prison Industrial Complex and Slavery Reparations, among other topics. Repeatable with different topics to a maximum of 10 credits, including original course.
