ETHN 201 - Introduction to Ethnic Studies This course offers an introduction to the historical foundations of ethnic studies and the field’s core theoretical concepts including racialization, racial capitalism, intersectionality, relationality, settler colonialism, borders, and abolition. This class focuses on the histories of structural and systemic oppressions including racism, classism, white privilege, discrimination, slavery and other forms of unfree labor, and policing and surveillance. Throughout each topic, the role of resistance is centered through the critique of power and the methods of dismantling it.
