SEC 552 - Assessment in Multilingual Classrooms

The focus of this course will be general considerations for assessment, grading, and summative, portfolio, and performance assessment. Additionally, uses and abuses of standardized testing will be addressed as well as school- and district-wide uses of assessment data. This course builds on foundational concepts in both Secondary Education and Multilingual Education, as well as work with planning and implementing instruction. The heart of the course and embedded throughout are considerations for cultural competence and for teaching, learning, and assessment in dual language and multilingual classrooms, including translanguaging strategies.
