MACS 401 - Earth and Ocean Data Analysis Large and complex data sets are ubiquitous features of Earth and Marine Science investigations. This course will focus on practicing data analysis strategies in order to utilize observational or simulated digital data for use in studying the marine environment. Students will become familiar with different ways to access and manage data sets and practice workflows including reading digital datasets, performing analysis operations from very simple (e.g. simple statistical analysis) to complex (e.g. advanced regression and time series spectral analysis), and visualizing complex datasets through plotting and mapping for georeferenced data.
Prerequisites & Notes: MATH 125 or MATH 135 or MATH 138; PHYS 161 Credits: 4 Grade Mode: Letter
