SPED 478 - Mentoring Equity and Justice for Individuals with Complex Needs This course focuses on addressing and mentoring change in systems that have marginalized individuals with complex needs. The course emphasizes a collaborative approach by mentoring community individuals in public school transition programs to integrate and self-advocate in the community and in post-secondary educational settings. Given the premise that ALL individuals can learn, and a desire to see learning progress beyond the public education setting, we will emphasize the need for systemic changes in post-secondary educational systems to remove barriers to inclusion of individuals with complex needs. This course requires field experience in mentoring individuals in the community and on WWU campus.
