CSD 571 - Hearing Aids I This course is designed to provide students with a foundation in fundamental amplification principles and technology used in the hearing aid industry. The course will focus on both hardware and software technology used in modern air and bone conduction hearing aids and hearing assistive technology systems (HATS) as well as the principles that underlie those technologies. While some attention will be given to specific hearing aid products currently available, rapidly changing product lines demand that the main focus be on underlying principles. The course is intended for students who desire to learn more about amplification for the hearing impaired. Students who successfully complete the course will have a working knowledge of modern hearing aids, their design and function, measurement and modification of the hearing aid response, and earmold acoustics.
