A/HI 438 - Art, Gender, and Sexuality Studies past and present visual practices, and how they engage with cultural representations of gender, sex, and sexuality, along with their interconnections to class and race. Course topics may include self-fashioning and performativity, portraiture and identity, patronage and matronage, the body as political, intersectionality, women painters in the Academy, feminism and femininity, nuns as divine artists, queer theory, and/or transgender and gender non-conforming artists. Specific geographic areas and time periods covered in the course may vary.
Prerequisites & Notes: Any A/HI or equivalent 300-level course. Credits: 5 Grade Mode: Letter WP Points: 3
