Introduction
The Salmon Enhancement: Habitat Restoration Certificate provides the training and experience needed for College of the Environment students to apply a variety of skills to critical work in watershed restoration and community education and engagement. Throughout the two-year program, CENV students engage in courses to learn the current environmental issues in fisheries habitat and how best to design research, education, science, policies, and community action while also participating in hands-on practicum work through paid internships with the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) a local salmon recovery organization.

How to Declare (Admission and Declaration Process):
Admissions to the Salmon Enhancement: Habitat Restoration Certificate is competitive, and space is limited. Students apply to be a Stream Steward Intern through NSEA’s FLOW Internship Program.
Applications are generally open four times a year, dependent on programming: 1) November, with internship activities and coursework starting in Winter quarter, 2) January, with internship activities and coursework starting in Spring quarter, 3) March, with internship activities starting in Summer and coursework starting the following Fall quarter, and 4) July, with internship activities and coursework starting in Fall quarter.

Certificate Completion
Certificates are awarded only upon the student’s submission of a Certificate Completion Application. Review application fees on the Certificate Information website.
Coursework required for completion of a certificate may not be eligible for financial aid. Contact the Financial Aid department for questions regarding certificate coursework aid eligibility.
Grade Requirements
A grade of C- or better is required for a student’s certificate courses, and supporting courses for certificates.
