SWP 565 - Critical, Anti-Oppressive, and Abolitionist Social Work Practice This course deepens students’ ability to identify, analyze, and dismantle systems of oppression through critical reflection and action. The course integrates intersectionality, feminist praxis, and Freirean pedagogy to move from consciousness to practice. Throughout the course, students apply anti-oppressive principles to clinical, organizational, and policy contexts, strengthening skills in culturally responsive engagement, reflective supervision, and equitable treatment planning. Students examine identity, power, and organizational culture while evaluating and applying sustainable, justice-centered approaches to leadership and social work practice.
