SWP 525 - Generalist Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups This course prepares MSW students for advanced anti-racist and anti-oppressive generalist practice with individuals, families, and groups. Emphasizing the integration of theory, ethics, and critical reflexivity, students will develop advanced skills in engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation across diverse practice settings. The course foregrounds the impact of systemic oppression, structural inequities, and trauma on client well-being, while promoting culturally responsive, strengths-based, and collaborative approaches. Students will critically examine dominant frameworks, integrate alternative and Indigenous knowledge systems, and cultivate practice strategies that prioritize client voice, resilience, and self-determination.
