ISE 464 - Introduction to Systems Design and Thinking This course introduces the principles and practices of systems design and systems thinking, with emphasis on applying simulation and modeling techniques to complex engineering and organizational problems. Students will explore frameworks for analyzing interactions among system components, identifying feedback loops, and evaluating trade-offs in performance, cost, and sustainability. Topics include system architecture, requirements analysis, design methodologies, and evaluation of system behavior under uncertainty. Case studies and team projects provide hands-on experience in applying systems thinking to real-world applications across engineering, operations, and management contexts.
