ISE 460 - Facility and Plant Layout Design

This course introduces the principles and methods for effective facility and plant layout design in manufacturing and service systems. Students learn to analyze, model, and develop facility layouts using both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Topics include supply chain and production planning integration, process and material flow analysis, material handling, warehouse design, group technology, and layout optimization. Emphasis is placed on the application of modern software tools and problem-solving methods to design facilities that are efficient, safe, and adaptable to operational requirements. Students complete a project applying these principles to a real or simulated facility design problem.
