ISE 350 - Human Factors Engineering

This course introduces the principles and applications of human factors engineering in the design of systems, products, and environments. Students will examine how human abilities, limitations, and interactions influence system performance and safety. Topics include perception and cognitive processing, display and control design, anthropometry, motor skills, workplace layout, and environmental factors such as lighting, noise, and climate. Students will learn to evaluate human–machine systems, apply ergonomic guidelines to improve usability, and integrate safety and accessibility considerations into design. A course project allows students to apply human-centered design principles to analyze and improve a real or simulated system.
