REL 202 - Global Religions II

Global Religions II covers the origins and development of the major religious traditions originating in southwest Asia and now practiced all over the world. These include Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Adherents of these religions together account for about half of humanity. We study primary source texts (in translation) and artwork from each religion, reviewing core ideas and practices and the ways the religions shaped and were shaped by other religious traditions. Students will be equipped with basic terminology in the academic study of religion as well as critical key terms from the languages of each religious tradition.
