ART 378 - Introduction to Art Education

A broad introduction to the various roles an art educator plays in the artistic lives of young people. For those interested in teaching art, in or out of schools, this course will develop knowledge and understanding of artistic development in childhood and adolescence (K-12), curriculum design and assessment, diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in art education spaces, art education advocacy, and the intersection of material & process exploration, visual & cultural literacy, and personal meaning-making in diverse art education contexts.

Prerequisites & Notes: ART 109; ART 110 or ART 111 or ID 110; ART 120 or ID 120; ART 230; ART 280.
