A/HI 434 - Eighteenth Century Western Art This seminar presents a study of 18th-Century art and culture in the Western world. Topics include: pictorial and philosophical conceptualizations of freedom; artistic defenses and challenges to the Academy; fashion and identity; the birth of art criticism; portraiture as political performativity.
