NURS 452 - Global Health Nursing This course introduces global health from an equity-centered nursing perspective. Students examine global health systems, their historical foundations, and key metrics, analyzing how social, cultural, economic, political, and environmental determinants shape health outcomes and disparities worldwide. Course topics include infectious and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, mental health, nutrition, planetary health and climate-related health impacts, and emergency preparedness. Emphasis is placed on ethical reasoning, culturally responsive practice, and evidence-based strategies to improve population health across diverse settings. The course culminates in a summative advocacy project that applies global health knowledge to a real-world issue relevant to nursing practice.
