A/HI 451 - African Textiles: Shaping Culture through Cloth This course focuses on the textiles arts of the African continent and its diaspora, which have been historically overlooked and underappreciated in Western academia. In this course we will give the textile arts careful and detailed study not just for their formal properties and technical achievements, but for the economic, social, political, religious, performative, and other roles they play in the communities that make and use them.
Prerequisites & Notes: Any A/Hi or equivalent 300-level course. Credits: 5 Grade Mode: Letter
