Introduction
The Multilingual Education Minor is available to undergraduate students in the English Language Learner/Bilingual Endorsement program. This includes a minimum 25 credits of MLE coursework.
Students working toward an English Language Learner/Bilingual Education endorsement may choose to complete the 25-credit Multilingual Education Minor.
Why Consider a Multilingual Education Minor?
Students who are English language learners are the fastest growing student population in the public school system. Statewide, approximately 10 percent of all P-12 students are ELLs, but in some districts that percentage is much, much higher. In order to meet the needs of this diverse population in monolingual English classrooms and in bilingual classrooms, we need teachers at all grade levels and content areas who have the knowledge gained in the MLE minor.
