Why Consider a Computer Science Minor?

Computer Science is transforming the world we live in and having an impact in every industry worldwide. The CS minor gives a solid introductory foundation in computer science theory, applications, and systems software. Having a basic understanding of computer science and computer programming improves employment rates for all other majors.

How to Declare (Admission and Declaration Process):

  1. The Computer Science minor is available on a space available basis to students who are not majoring in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or Math/Computer Science.
  2. Approval and an application can be obtained from the CS Advisor Mary Hall, mary.hall@wwu.edu.
  3. Students may apply to the minor when they have completed CSCI 241, CSCI 247, and CSCI 301.
  4. Students wanting to minor in Computer Science are encouraged to start on the path early in their academic careers, as there are credit restrictions on CS Pre-major classes.

Grade Requirements

A grade of C- or better is required for a student’s major or minor courses, and supporting courses for majors and minors.
