Introduction
Why Consider a Computer Science Minor?
Computer Science is transforming the world we live in and having an impact in every industry worldwide. The CS minor gives a solid introductory foundation in computer science theory, applications, and systems software. Having a basic understanding of computer science and computer programming improves employment rates for all other majors.

How to Declare (Admission and Declaration Process):
- The Computer Science minor is available on a space available basis to students who are not majoring in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or Math/Computer Science.
- Approval and an application can be obtained from the CS Advisor Mary Hall, mary.hall@wwu.edu.
- Students may apply to the minor when they have completed CSCI 241, CSCI 247, and CSCI 301.
- Students wanting to minor in Computer Science are encouraged to start on the path early in their academic careers, as there are credit restrictions on CS Pre-major classes.
Grade Requirements
A grade of C- or better is required for a student’s major or minor courses, and supporting courses for majors and minors.
