Disaster Risk Reduction Minor

Introduction

Huxley College’s disaster reduction and emergency planning minor is designed to introduce the student to natural hazards, their impacts on society, and strategies for reducing these impacts. All students at Western may apply for admittance through the Department of Environmental Studies office at any time.

How to Declare (Admission and Declaration Process):

Applicants should request a Disaster Risk Reducation Minor application from Dr. Rebekah Paci-Green or a Huxley College professional advisor. Return the application with a WWU transcript, a WWU transfer equivalency report, if applicable, and a 500-word essay explaining how the minor would enhance the applicant’s major studies and career goals. Admission to the minor is competitive and space is limited.

Grade Requirements

A grade of C- or better is required for all students’ minor courses.
