GEOL 531 - Stable Isotope Geochemistry Stable isotope systems serve as powerful tools in reconstructing Earth’s history and environmental/climatic changes at all timescales. This course will introduce the principles governing the fractionation of stable isotopes in nature, and their application to environmental and geologic questions. Through a series of lectures, discussions of scientific literature, and quantitative exercises, students will become familiar with the most common stable isotope systems.
Prerequisites & Notes: CHEM 162; GEOL 211 or 211A; or instructor permission. Credits: 4 Grade Mode: Letter
