PLSC 378 - Communist Regimes: A Brief History The course is aimed at providing a general overview of the communist regimes in Europe, China, North Korea and Cuba as well as their post-communist transitions and non-transitions. Students will learn about the theoretical foundations of communism, history, political and economic organization of the state, and social life during the communist period before exploring the collapse of most communist regimes around the world and their diverse paths towards democracy.
