CSCI 463 - Cyber Defense This course covers a variety of topics in Cybersecurity with a goal of encouraging students to be informed about cyber related topics, to explore current issues in cybersecurity, and to participate in Cyber Defense exercises and other cyber related activities. Topics covered in the course vary from year-to-year based on instructor and student interest, current events, availability, and other factors. Previous topics have included: basic security, encryption, specific vulnerabilities (heart bleed, Spectre/Meltdown, etc.), phishing, social engineering, infrastructure security, IoT, AI vulnerabilities, cyber bullying/stalking, polymorphic code, catching hackers, wireless interception, steganography, cyber warfare, and many others. The level of coverage and detail will vary throughout the quarter, but students are not expected to have experience in cyber security or technology, just an interest. Repeatable to a maximum of 3 credits, including original course.
