GEOL 422 - Convergent Margins Seminar

This course will explore the cycling of material in Earth’s ‘subduction factory’, examining convergent margins from the perspective of cycling of materials from Earth’s surface to Earth’s interior, and vice versa. We will learn about how the subduction factory processes raw materials such as ocean crust and sediments and manufactures magmas and continental crust as products. The format of the class will be discussion-based, using the primary literature as our reading material.
