PEH 443P - Adapted Physical Education Methods and Practicum This course is designed to help students acquire knowledge necessary for teaching individuals with unique needs in the context of physical education. Aligning with our program’s mantra of developing compassionate people, this class assumes a constant theme of establishing and maintaining a kindhearted (not to be confused with patronizing) approach to helping all students learn and grow. Emphases will be placed on special education law, the nature of common disabilities, and effective instructional strategies in adapted physical education settings. Each week, students will attend one 150-minute on-campus class session and attend two hours of adapted physical education classes in local schools. Additionally, students must complete 20 hours of volunteer experience within adapted movement settings.
