MACS 302 - Integrated Marine Science Core: Marine Chemical Processes Marine science questions can only be fully understood through approaches that integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines. This course focuses on the chemical aspects of marine science, as well as how chemical concepts inform and are informed by geology, biology and physics. Students will work with real world data sets to understand the chemical processes that determine seawater composition and solute distributions in open ocean and coastal environments. We will also discuss societally relevant issues such as ocean acidification. Labs will focus on the quantitative analysis of seawater and will cover chemical techniques and instrumentation used by chemical oceanographers.
