ELED 305 - Development and Learning in a Diverse Classroom This course examines the principles of human development, individual differences, motivation, culturally responsive teaching and the brain, and conscious classroom management for equity. This course will emphasize the implications of these principles for primary and elementary settings. Students will explore thoughts and beliefs related to the student, the classroom environment, family and community and one’s own beliefs on classroom management, assessment, and teaching practices in a diverse classroom. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of building relationships with diverse students in a classroom setting. Students will be introduced to various types of assessments and use data to help guide instruction. Students will be encouraged to consider their motivation for teaching.
