MLE 444 - Understanding and Teaching Disciplinary Language


In this course, students will explore a functional approach to language, examine second language acquisition theories to teaching, study the state language development standards, and begin to bring language, SLA, and standards together to create meaningful educational experiences for their students in P-12 in a culturally and linguistically sustaining classroom.  As we learn about different ways we use language to make meaning, we will also discuss how we can assess students in their language development.

Prerequisites & Notes: Admitted to a teacher education program and MLE 443.
