ENRG 352 - Climate Change Policy Tools

This course provides an introduction to some of the key challenges global climate change poses on law and governance, and what is at stake if such challenges are not addressed. The overarching aim of the course is to give students an understanding of the nature of the problem, an overview of the various policy instruments used to address climate change, the basic design of greenhouse gas compliance regimes, the challenges with implementation, and the importance of political economy in understanding historical and current choices made in policy response and instrument design. Finally, some attention will be given to how we've come to know climate change, think and talk about it, and how its representations in culture limit or open up the possibilities for different levels of engagement, solutions, and action. Also offered as UEPP 352.

Prerequisites & Notes: Sophomore status or above, or instructor permission.
