GEOL 416 - Modeling the Earth’s Surface

There are scores of existing numerical approaches and software packages used to quantitatively describe landforms and study processes at the Earth’s surface. In this course, we will cover a small assortment of these tools, with the goal of learning universal skills for navigating and troubleshooting software and code. Along the way, we will explore the variety of ways researchers use models to complement field and theoretical efforts to further our understanding of geological processes on the Earth’s surface.

Prerequisites & Notes: GEOL 310 and PHYS 161.
Credits: 4
