ESCI 472 - Monitoring Restored Habitat


This course is designed for students to learn and practice field methods and data analysis used for the biological assessment of restoration wetland and riparian ecosystems of the Puget Sound. Students will learn how to design sampling protocols to monitor for the biological integrity of a restored wetland/upland complex, apply different statistical tests to analyze ecological data, and report scientific results in a written and graphical format. In addition, students will be introduced to ways of reporting data through spatial mapping and story mapping to showcase projects. This course is taught through the College of the Environment - Salish Sea Region program on the Olympic Peninsula.

Prerequisites & Notes: ESCI 325 or BIOL 325; ESCI 340 or BIOL 340; or instructor permission.
