ESCI 471 - Forest Restoration in the PNW


The practice of ecological restoration is both challenging and evolving. This course begins with an overview of the science behind restoration ecology, then explores PNW forest ecology with both classroom and field-based inquiry. The second half of the course will explore different forest restoration treatments through both theory and site visits of active restoration sites. The final portion of the class will delve into the design process with students developing their own restoration plans in the final two weeks (final project). This course is taught through the College of the Environment - Salish Sea Region program on the Olympic Peninsula.

Prerequisites & Notes: ESCI 325 or BIOL 325; or instructor permission.
