ENRG 344 - Community Solutions to Climate Change This course will examine the ways that North American communities can respond to the challenge of climate change at a local level. The problem has been amplified by 30 years of Federal inaction. Today, communities across the U.S. are committing to act on their own to accelerate the transition to clean energy and carbon emission reduction. We examine how public opinion influences policy and the future success of clean energy transition scenarios. We study potential for citizen advocacy to galvanize action, as well as the role of corporate leadership. We explore the need for a clean energy workforce and how to protect vulnerable communities from bearing the brunt of the transition. Also offered as UEPP 344.
