ESCI 485 - Global Environmental Change in the Cryosphere

The cryosphere – the frozen water domain – is rapidly changing as a result of global climate change. Polar ice sheets, high mountain glaciers, and seasonal snow packs greatly influence the global energy balance and the global climate. This course will explore how changes in climate and anthropogenic activities influence the production and deposition of aerosols, as well as biogeochemical cycling into the water cycle once deposited on the Earth’s surface.

Prerequisites & Notes: ESCI 325; ESCI 340 or BIOL 340; or instructor permission; physics recommended.
