This is an interactive course which incorporates current events into class discussions as appropriate. Students will engage with interdisciplinary materials from social media and film to ethnography, history, sociology, and cultural and literary texts to engage questions such as: What are the major factor influencing Arab immigration to the US? Is there a difference between anti-Arab racism and Islamophobia? Can the Arab American experience be separated from the Palestinian struggle? How did 9/11 impact Arab Americans?
