HIST 584 - Japanese Women’s History This course examines the diverse roles and fluctuating status of Japanese women from the beginnings of history up to modern times. Topics may include: women and Japanese religions (Buddhism, Shintô, Shugendô, New Religions), women’s political involvement, education and indoctrination, family roles, Japanese Feminism, contributions to art and literature, and economic sphere. This is a seminar course; students who do not possess any basic Japanese Studies background are expected to correct this knowledge deficit on their own.
Prerequisites & Notes: Graduate status or permission of instructor. Credits: 4 Grade Mode: Letter
